I studied Computer Engineering for 2 years in NUS before deciding to switch to Communications in the University of Canberra, majoring in Media Production. I wanted to explore a more creative career option. The switch has equipped me with both practical analytical skills from Computer Engineering and creative thinking from my Communications degree.
I am proficient with the computer and am able to pick up new computer skills with ease. As such, I am well versed in a plethora of software and am also able to code in various languages; allowing me to create and design a wide range of media with both aesthetics and practicality in mind. In addition, I have a good command of English and took up a second major in creative writing during my degree to explore my passion for writing.
In my recent position as an academic staff, I have facilitated and crafted various multimedia modules, dealing with many aspects of interactive multimedia as well as aspects of usability design. I was the lab manager for the Digital Video and Audio laboratories, and I planned and oversaw the setting up of the audio laboratory from scratch. Every semester, I supervised several final year projects. I worked well with my colleagues and have established great rapport with the students I have taught.
I am currently a freelance web developer, handling web projects of various sizes. I am also a freelance IT trainer, and have conducted many multimedia workshops in Secondary schools, such as Basic Photography, Digital Video and Audio, Basic Animation etc.
